Hell Up North

The toughest half-marathon in the UK

It’s a Hell of a Half!

Fancy a swift half? Bog off to that. This is the UK’s toughest half marathon where Mother Nature will deliver that sinking feeling and more. The bar in extreme mud runs is about to be set at a new level (which is incidentally chest high in “Lucifer’s Lido”). Methane-munching HellRunners are now being recruited to tackle the notorious Bog of Doom — where the heart-thumping Devil’s Disco will rock you to glory.

Epic will not describe your experience. We’ll have you in tears… pain and laughter in equal doses actually. Pyro, samba band, fun run, hose wash, fabulous finish line rewards. It just doesn’t stop… but will you?

As running experiences go, this is Heaven from Hell. Run Happy.

Wave 1 – 09:45am

Wave 2 – 10:15am

Wave 3 – 10:45am

Getting There
Head towards Delamere Station (located off the B5152 — Station Road) and turn into Delamere Forest Park. Upon arrival Follow the HellRunner event parking signs.

Delamere station is less than a 10 minute walk from the event hub. Sat-Nav: CW8 2JD. But please ensure your sat-nav guides your approach in from the Station (east) side of the forest.

Event Car Parking
The signed HellRunner event parking area is on grassland meadows and free of charge. Please note that owner’s park at their own risk and usual parking charges will apply to other parking areas within Delamere Forest. The parking area is no more than a few minutes’ signed walk from the main event hub. There is only one entrance and exit into the venue and in encouraging you to arrive early, we thank you in advance for your patience whilst you exit.

Your Race Numbers With Integrated Timing Device
Your personal timing chip will be integrated into your race number that will be posted out 7-14 days ahead of the event. Please ensure that any changes to your address used at the time of entry must be emailed in advance to info@trailplus.com.

Those who enter during October may be requested to collect their number / chip at the Information Marquee on the morning of the race.

Timing & Results
There will be a race clock at the start / finish line. Provisional results will appear at the results page immediately following the event, but remember NO NUMBER / CHIP = NO TIME.

Your timing chip is on the back of your race number this year – a white strip down each side. Just attach your number as usual, taking care not to pierce the white strips with the pins.

There will be a manned baggage area close to the Start / Finish. Please note that we cannot guarantee the safety of any item(s) left in this area. All baggage shall be left at the owner’s risk.

There will be a small male and female changing area available at the event hub. However, we recommend that all runners arrive at the event already changed and bring additional warm and dry items to put on for your return journey. We regret that there are NO SHOWER facilities on site at the venue.

First Aid
Medical support will be present on the course and at the finish. You should be relatively fit and have no known medical conditions. Please note – do not run with a cold or flu. This can be extremely dangerous.

Toilets will be available within the event hub and close to the start / finish area.

One drinks station will be at about the halfway point, a second between Lucifer’s Lido and the Bog of Doom and another at the finish. However, please bring your own water to drink before and after the event start.

Hot food and drinks will be available for purchase at the venue.

HellRunner Merchandise
If you have pre-purchased any of the limited edition HellRunner tee shirts or hoodies you will receive a laminated voucher in advance of the event. Please hand in this voucher at the main Event Marquee to claim your merchandise.

HellRunner merchandise will also be on sale at the event while stocks last.

Charity Hose Down
The Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service will again be providing a charity hose down adjacent to the start / finish area. Please bring your £1 coin donation and register before the event commences.

Goodies and Rewards
To celebrate what will probably be your slowest half-marathon to date, you’ll receive the following once you cross the finish line: bottle of water; deluxe goody bag, bespoke HellRunner medal and high-quality, Brooks technical HellRunner tee shirt. Well done you!

The first 3 men & first 3 women across the line will be awarded prizes on the day at the venue. Prize winners will be issued with their prize on the day and if they are not present will be notified by email within one week of the event.

Race Photography
Extensive race pictures will be available to view and purchase after the event. For more details, visit the results & photos page
